Introduction
This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin is being issued to
advise operators and owners of Embraer EMB-505 airplanes of an
airworthiness concern that the terrain awareness warning system (TAWS)
information in the original airplane flight manual (AFM) is
insufficient.
At this time, the FAA has determined that this airworthiness concern is
not an unsafe condition that would warrant airworthiness directive (AD)
action under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part
39.
Background
During a review of the original AFM for the EMB-505 airplane, the FAA
determined that the TAWS instructions were insufficient and did not
meet the intent of the applicable 14 CFR part 91 regulations.
After consultation with the FAA and the foreign authority, Embraer
issued AFM-2665 Revision 1 on May 18, 2010, which adds information to
the TAWS instructions.
Recommendations
The FAA recommends that all owners and operators use Embraer AFM-2665,
dated May 18, 2010. This revision should be available to owners and
operators through the manufacturer’s website and service organization.
