Introduction

This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin informs you of an airworthiness concern for Diamond HK 36 TTS, TTC, and TTC-ECO motorgliders, all serial numbers.

Background

As a result from an engine change or engine overhaul, the software version of the engine TCU does not comply with the aircraft instrumentation.

The Austria aviation authority, Austro Control, has issued Airworthiness Directive No. 99, dated March 27, 2000, for those motorgliders registered for operation in Austria. Diamond has issued Service Bulletin No. 66/1, dated November 2, 1999, to address this condition. This service bulletin specifies an upgrade from Rotax TCU Part No. 966 470 to Part No. 966 741, based on Rotax Service Bulletin No. 914-13

At this time, this airworthiness concern is not an unsafe condition that would warrant AD action under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR) part 39.

Recommendations

We recommend all owners and operators comply with actions outlined in Diamond Service Bulletin No. 66/1, dated November 2, 1999.
