Introduction
This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) informs you,
a registered owner and/or operator of Raytheon Aircraft Company Models,
A45 (T-34A), D45 (T-34B), B50 (L-23B), 45 (YT-34), 35, 95, A95, B95,
B95-A, 95-55, and 95B55 airplanes with production parts that may have
escaped the Raytheon Aircraft Company Quality Control System with
potential problems as noted.
Background
The parts are typically hinge halves for various control surfaces.
Figures 1, 2, and 3 show the typical parts and assemblies and where the
forming thinning, necking, and cracking are occurring. Parts, other
than those shown in the figures, which may exhibit these production
flaws are:
35-650120-2
35-650120-7002
35-650122-2
45-640005-39
35-650120-7002
45-640005-43
95-620010-60
Recommendation
The FAA recommends that owners and operators inspect the elevator
and rudder control surface hinge halves for proper part forming if
parts were replaced after February of 2001. Figures 1, 2, & 3 show
examples of incorrectly formed hinge halves. These examples exhibit
thinning, necking, and possible cracking. If hinge halves are found
with theses forming deformities, then the hinge halve or hinge assembly
needs to be replaced. The manufacture has not issued any service
information on this condition.
