Introduction
The purpose of this Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin
(SAIB) is to inform the operators of Britten Norman BN2A, BN2B, BN2T,
BN2T-4R, BN2T-4S series Islander and BN2A-Mk III series Trislander
aircraft of an airworthiness concern.
Background
FHL landing gears and components installed in subject airplanes
have finite fatigue lives that had not previously been published. This
could result in components remaining in service beyond their finite
fatigue lives.
B-N Group Ltd, has issued a service bulletin (SB) 298, issue 1, to
introduce finite fatigue lives for main and nose gear landing gear
assemblies and components.
Recommendation
The FAA is recommending, but not requiring, that owners and
operators of Britten Norman BN2A, BN2B, BN2T, BN2T-4R, BN2T-4S series
Islander and BN2A-Mk III series Trislander series aircraft to
accomplish this (SB) 298, issue 1.
